Swan Nebula

The Swan Nebula (Messier 17 or Omega Nebula) is a massive star-forming region located 5,500 light-years from Earth in the constellation Sagittarius. Spanning about 15 to 40 light-years, it glows red from energized hydrogen gas and gets its name from a shape that looks like a swan's neck.
